Tea at The George is set within the historical 500-year-old George Hotel and not many places have stories to tell such as ours. Tea at The George’s is just beginning!
Stylish and elegant, the Tea room is adorned with paneling, mirrors, cherry blossom, and lavish flowers, showcasing Colchester’s historic charm and history.
Our Chefs have expertly handcrafted quirky fancies, delicate finger sandwiches, homemade buttery scones, and strawberry preserves to take you on a unique and personal gastronomical experience.

We have partnered with award-winning British tea brand, specialising in authentically made speciality teas with exceptional flavours. Their rich heritage of tea making and expertly curated teas are sourced from independent artisan tea farms as well as from some of the most renowned tea gardens around the world.
Winners of The Great Taste Awards, The Tea Makers of London have been awarded 28 Great Taste Awards and counting over the years. Their range of award-winning teas is a true testament to their skill, passion and mastery.
We have selected specialty teas with exceptional flavours that are curated from independent artisan tea farms and sustainably sourced.

How to get here: T at The George is on Colchester’s main high street.
By car: We have access via the high street although a Sat Nav and signage does say that it is not
Parking – There is a public pay & display car park behind The George Hotel accessed down George st, off the main high street. This has limited spaces and a rate of £9.50 a day.
Other car parks nearby (5-10 minute walk) include Nunns Road NCP, St Marys Car Park and Priory Street Car Park.
